The American Cancer Society provides free wigs. They didn't have a big selection but I did find this one that is exactly my old style and near my color from my younger days.

Jul 2011 New Hair
After 8 months and still just little more than a frizzy stubble, I treated myself to a new wig. After trying on a lot of styles and colors, I decided on this one because of it being so close to my natural color, as well as being very comfortable and chic.

A beautiful fall day at NIH. I'm participating in their GvHD study this week. I'll be examined and interviewed by a lot of specialists, a win-win for research and for me.

I'm the first GvHD patient to participate in the "acupuncture for dry mouth" study in the Sjögren's clinic. The needle insertions were more painful than I anticipated but the pain was very brief. I was instructed to not move my face or head and to relax quietly for the next 30 minutes. Yes, I like being a lab rat when there's esentially no potential harm for me and plenty of potential for research.

Despite appearances, I was not unhappy - simply keeping my face motionless for 30 minutes, as instructed. I do find the idea of needles in my face very creepy, however.

Celebrating our friends Thomas and John's birthdays at Fogo de Chao with their mother, Andy, and Thomas' friend, Anita. It was my first salad bar post transplant. I didn't catch anything!

At Michael's parents' home for Thanksgiving. I was skeptical about the acupuncture and acupressure but my dry mouth actually seems better and my taste buds definitely improved.
