Day +241: I want it long, straight, curly, fuzzy…

“Snaggy, shaggy, ratty, matty
Oily, greasy, fleecy
Shining, gleaming, streaming
Flaxen, waxen
Knotted, polka-dotted
Twisted, beaded, braided
Powdered, flowered, and confettied
Bangled, tangled, spangled, and spaghettied!”

Tomorrow marks my 8 month anniversary. Food is still not the greatest, and I’m running a bit tired but all things considered, I’m doing remarkably well and am very happy to be enjoying the summer.

My hair is growing a lot more slowly than I expected. I still have little more than a thin, frizzy stubble. So last week I went to the American Cancer Society and picked out my free wig. They didn’t have a big selection but I did find one that was exactly my old style and close to my color from my younger days. I also made an appointment with a commercial shop to be fitted for another wig this week. There was a bigger variety at this place. I tried on lots of different styles and colors and finally chose a very short one that is a close match to my own current color. It’s also very lightweight, comfortable, and chic :-). I’ve posted photos of both in the gallery.

  1. Gimme a head with hair, long beautiful hair!

I’d like to see ya with polka dotted hair!

It’s fantastic you’re doing so well!

  2. Sounds like Chris knows the song. Hair-Cowsills.
Of course I looked it up again. But at least it was familiar to me. 🙂

I checked out the gallery too. I like both new hair styles. They look really good. You can’t even tell they are wigs. I thought you might go with a strawberry blonde, or something similar to go with some of your shoes. But maybe next time. 😉

Your house looks like a new place with the new walkway and retaining wall. It looks great.

We definitely need to come visit again to see you now that you are doing so well. David has not worked much this year. He in only on his third job for the year. He comes home tomorrow. Nothing planned for after that. There have been a lot of cutbacks this year. It hurts, but we are okay. Thank you Army!

  3. Cathy,

I did try strawberry blonde but it made my skin look very red and blotchy (more so than it is already).

  4. I like your hair!

  5. Love the pictures!! You look great!!!

Is the slow growing hair because of the viadaza treatments?

  6. Karen, I FINALLY got on to see your hair! Wifi has been s l o w. I LOVE the chic wig! It looks more comfy than the long one and you look good in it! My hair is maybe a bit longer than your short one – but it is baby fine. I take on the butchy spike look at times! lol You look great! Hugs, Lori
